You can be equally as creative with SCAL and inkscape with the Cricut. I really like the fact that I don't have to hook up to a computer because my laptop is not always down in my scrap area with my Cricut and also that I can cut up to 2' long with my expression. I'm planning on making some vinyl wall graphics for my scrap area.
