I just got the best information- My mom is giving me a Cricut for X-mas! She can't really afford an Expression, but I am ordering it and she'll pay me. I could order the Expression and just pay the extra. So be honest- I found the Expression for 299 with free s/h or 308 without s/h (2 different places) so what are the benefits and what would you all do? I figure I can wait a day or so with 2 places having them. Thanks for any help.

I didn't even look at this new one. I had my heart on a wishblade even though it's not as portable. Personally I like this cuts larger and you wouldn't have to cut your 12X12 in half. hmmm will this tempt me instead of a Wishblade?

I have the regular Cricut and I carry it with me to many of my crops. I really like it a lot.

I have the Expression. I got this one because of the multi-cut feature (to cut chipboard) and because of the larger size mat options. I like to make bags and boxes with the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More cartridge and they are pretty small on the regular 6x12 mat. I also like the fact that you can rotate an image on the mat allowing a large size cut with some items that only cut the length of the short direction of the mat (if that makes any sense). BUT, now that the software is available, mostly all of those reasons are not valid anymore since the software allows for multi-cut and arranging stuff any way you want on the mat. So basically it's the size. If you think you'll make large cuts get the Expression. Also, the cartridges that come with it are great. One of the trends I see with scrapbooking now are large die cuts. Almost full size scalloped circles, I saw some snowflake paper at the LSS that was one big snowflake and a huge ornament, etc. The other thing is the die cut overlays or borders that you want to be about 12" for a page - those you can do with the Expression (overlays with the Design software and Expression). Off-hand that's all I can think of for benefits of the Expression. The down side is that it's bigger, you need more surface to work on to allow the mat to move back and forth and it's not as portable.
I have my regular one listed on Craigs list. I'm tempted to keep it just for travel (but I won't)

I've just upgraded my cricut to the expressions and I really love it and haven't even had time to really play with it. Wish I had had it in the hospital - lol Probably wouldn't have felt like messing with it.

Thanks for the input- Esp. cass17. I decided I would go with the little bug. I decided it would be best because it is portable and the E is just not really designed to be as portable. Also because I do cards and smaller scrapbooks I rarely use embellies bigger than a few inches.
And lastly I could get a lot more carts with the extra $$$.

    Thanks again for your help!
