I found this website, Stitching Cards, and thought I would give it a try. They have a lot of patterns for sale but there are several free patterns. I think the stitching is pretty but it took a lot of my time & I'm not really crazy about hand sewing that much so I may not do more of them.

Here is another. It took me 3-4 hrs. to do the 2 cards, just the stitching. I'm sure people who sew more could probably be faster than I am. The butterfly card has beads too.

They may take too much time to do often, but I love the result. I think I'll checkout the website, but I don't promise to try it. These are really lovely.

I am guessing that you pierced the holes for the pattern first? If you didn't and you layered up a few pieces of cardstock and pierced a few at one time that would speed up the process. And if you wanted to do the stitched part just on a card front they are something that you could easily take with you to do while you waited at Dr's and things. You would just need something that would keep them from getting bent to tote around with you. I used to always be on the lookout for portable projects but now I don't hardly go anywhere lol

I agree, with you Judy. They look wonderful but the time in doing them is definately a labor of love. But, whoever receives them will be pleased, I'm sure. You did a very nice job on them!

Beautiful work Judy. I did a few of those when it was so COLD in SE TX a couple of yrs ago that I just wanted to stay bundled up but that is just to much work. They really have to be made for something very special. LOL

Judy, you did a wonderful job on them. Those were the only kind of cards I did for 2 yrs. I agree they take alot of time that is when i decided to start making different ones. I sold 60 of them and I made them for xmas cards for 2 yrs so I have made over 200 of them. I do have alot of patterns. If you are interested but they are back at my house in MN and will not be going there till May.
    Beautiful work!!
