Cass I have the CB and I can measure my plate for you, if that would help??
My plate that I use on the bottom is 6 X 8. 6 is the width, but if I remember correctly, I was told we could use all dies from other companies.
Does anyone know if these are both the same size? Not the machine, but the width of the cutting plates. Do they take eachothers dies?

No the big kick is bigger. I sat and compared he cutting pads to each other and the BK is I think 1/4 in to 1/2 in wider.
I am thinking of selling my CB to buy the BK in the future because of this reason!! I too thought they were supposed to be the same size and take each others dies.
the CBug should still take the other dies.
The only die I am not absolutely sure about are the Bigz. But I have the CB and I use the Ellison ThickCuts in it. I am pretty sure that Ellison Bigshot and the new Sizzix BigKick are pretty much the same. The Ellison thick dies measure 6"x5.5". I roll it thru on the 5.5 side; but have not tried it the other way tho.
The cuttlebug does take other dies, just not the bigz or the crease pad to go with the boxes and folding dies Sizzix has come out with. Sorry I should have clarified!! It works great with the sizzix originals, I only have an alpha set that is actually by Cuttlebug and 2 of the embossing dies.

Are you sure it won't take the bigz dies? When I went to look at them on Saturday, they didn't look like they were too big.
I'm going broke saving money on scrapbooking supplies!
I was interested in it because pf the Sizzix texture plates or whatever they are called. I love to use the cuttlebug ones for cards with my regular sizzix, but the Sizzix ones for the Big Kick are bigger and I love the paisley one which won't fit in my regular sizzix. I guess it would be silly to get the Big Kick just for the texture plates.
