You know, Judith, I have always wanted a real zircon because that is my birthstone (December). Whn I was young and in my late teens I earned enough money from my first job to buy a birthstone ring. When I went to purchase it the jeweler refused to sell it to me! He said that it was so soft that I would not be able to wear for very long before it would crack and break!!! Can you believe it??? He decided for me that I couldn't buy the ring. I was so offended. Then shortly after that zircons became unavailable. They are now having a comeback because of the popularity of owning precious stones. Soft or not, I would still love to have a zircon! (And I have been so offended that a blue topaz was substituted for the zircon as the December birthstone! Hummmpn!) I want the real thing!
It was fun to read the names of the different gems on your list!

I thought it would be something different. I love the real things. I'm lucky, my DH has bought me several gems over the years. He takes me shopping to see what I drool over then he tries to surprize me at Christmas. So every 4 or 5 years, I might get something new. I also like the unusual gems.

You are a lucky lady to have a hubby that finds pleasure in giving your jewelry! I love the moss agates. Right now, I just bought a necklace where they had cut it to sparkle like a regular precious gem...it is gorgeous!
And I have collected antique blister pearls for the last 20 years. They are very difficult to find. At one time, they were considered precious stones but are now seen as semi-precious. And there are many kjnock-offs on the market that do not hold a candle to the old ones.
I love gems, too. I think the colors are fascinating.
