Wow! I thought Goo Gone would take anything out! Have you tried Scrapper's Solution?? It's great to remove stickers and still be able to reuse the sticker. It's different from GG, so it might work.
    Just a thought.

I saw this tip for cardstock. She used a loop of regular scotch tape to pull it up in bits and pieces. rub on removalclick on the purple welcome bar, then TIPS, then scroll down to rub on removal
but maybe it will work for the tin?

Thanks for the ideas, I will have to wait until I get home to try them. I will post the outcome.

    Tape didn't work.

    Magic Eraser didn't work.

Fingernail Polish Remover does work, takes a little elbow grease, but it does the trick.

Glad you finally found something that worked, Bonnie!

Taffy- I think she said not to try that tip on Pattern paper, and MAYBE on the whitecore cardstock? because the tape pulls up little bits of fibers from the paper and could "lift" the pattern or top layer which would leave you with a bare white paper spot. (hmmm- that would be a lot more noticeable than a rub-on error, right?)
