    Ziggy,
You will need to have the layers pallet open. If it isnt' already, you probably just need to go to the 'windows' menu at the top and open it. I'm on a Mac, but will help you figure it out if you can't find it. Anyway, once it is open, just click once on the background layer in the 'layers' window, then drag it to the top of the list (or wherever you want it in the list). If you can't drag it, because it is on the bottom. there are a couple of ways to deal with it. Without opening my program to give you specifics, the easiest thing to tell you is just to go to the Layers menu and duplicate that layer and drag it where you want. (There are ways to make that layer moveable, but I don't have time to go open my program at the moment...friends coming over) I'll check here later and if you haven't figured it out, leave a message or PM me.

Cool LO. You did a great job.
Does Publisher have a 'save as' function so you can save as a jpeg?

    yes that would help

I found a site it was National Digi Scrap day and one of their challenges was to post links so I found a tutorial and it helped a little. My layers keeping vanishing on me though when I open something new sometimes and I don't know how to get them back

    Ziggy,
I was told that in the 2002 (I think) version of Publisher, that it you go to save as a web publication, you will then get an option to save as a jpeg. Can't vouch for that, but that is what I understood.
