Where's the oxygen? Utah is one smoke-filled state!!! Hack! Hack! Cough! We have fires burning out of control north and south and west with California and Nevada contributing. It looks like a foggy day except it is over 100 degrees outside and bone dry! It is a very eerie sight. Both I-80 and I-15 have been closed down because of the fires jumping the freeway. It is only mid-summer. What does the rest of this very unusually hot season have for us? I hope that this is not causing those who have lung problems too much trouble! But, the smell of smoke is getting heavy. I guess the good thing is that this will keep the mosquitoes away! I don't know what is worse, coughing or scratching!!! Anyone want to come over for smores?

OMG I feel for you I think the coughing is worse than the scratching. I can't hardly imagine this. You think of fog with cool weather. Not only the people but the little animals. I will be praying for you.

Judy, many years ago while living in south San Diego county, CA there were fires that were so bad our sky was black and green. We could hardly breathe. So, I do understand your problems. I hope you soon get rain in your area to put out the fires.

We had them burning about 3800 acres in the Pisgah National Forest about 50 miles from us, that the rain we got last week finally put them out.

Our poor country is so dry in so many areas, that we could have used up the rains in the Texas, Kansas and Missouri areas with no problem.

I'll be thinking about you and the areas that surround you and praying for rain in the area.

LOL only our Judy could ask if we want to come over for smores

I do feel for you though. I don't watch news or keep up with it much so I've only heard passing things about the fires. I hope you stay stafe. I'd start wearing painters masks or things so the smoke doesn't damage you.

I understand that the smoke will go a long way in preserving one's skin and giving a good tan. So, this must be the faux 'fountain of youth for the moment'! I've got an extra room for any takers!

We had a 'cold front' blow through last night. It brought a little rain but it quickly became verga which is rain that evaportates before it hits the ground so it of no benefit. And our 'cold front' was only a ten degree drop in temps. It went from the l00's to the 90's today...whoohooo! As the day has progressed, the smoke has cleared a little and I can't smell it. But it is still hazy. A true rain storm with no wind would be wonderful, right now!

We have finally gotten some rain. It includes hail though, but at least my parched lawn is beginning to show some blade of green. I'll wish for some major slow rain in your area. Think a weeks worth will slow down the fires? I just heard on the news that Nevada, California and Idaho are also having major problems with forest fires.

Because of valley winds, the smoke has vleared out a bit, here. That is nice. We have no rain in sight, only temps in the 100's for the next week, again. We are breaking records for heat. Rain would be good but that also means the violent thunder storms and high wind, too. So, what happens is that the lightning starts new fires and the winds make them spread. But, God knows and allows these things to happen. The fires actually are a benefit to the soil...but not to homes and structures!

I'm glad to hear that you got some moisture. What a wonderful thing to smell the earth after a rain has fallen on dry ground! Let's hope more rain is in the near future for both youand I!
