    new skill

DH is refinishing an old rocking chair (he remembers it from when he was young) that his son has. It needed some work on one of the legs & he decided to recover the seat (DS didn't ask us to & hasn't weighed in on fabric choice, but, oh well, they are his kids). The seat had springs in it but looked like it had been recovered before at some point because there were only 3 springs & they were held in by wire. Did some research (& shopping) & put new springs in this morning all tied together like they should be. We opted for a piece of plywood on the bottom (partly because that's what was there) because we didn't have the equipment to put webbing in the way it should be. Still think it will be way better than it was. Have some foam & batting to add cushioning. Found some fabric at HL that I think will go in the kids home. So now I can say I have tied springs.

It's a 2 man job for sure. DH added all the strength, I just did the fine work his big hands can't do. And, I have no idea why the last pictures came in sideways.

That looks lovely. I have a similar chair, you know! But it has a rattan seat. I added a foam cushion to it instead of a sprung one.

This one had springs before but only 3 & they were held in (sort of)with wire. Probably had been recovered at some point but DH has no idea when. Think his son must have just gotten in when DH's ex went to a senior community. They inherited a grandfather clock that DH had purchased while in the military. Wish I had thought to get a photo before we started so I could have the whole process. Oh well, it will still make a good layout. I like to do everyday events as well as special ones & holidays. Think it tells the whole story of your life.
