Has any one sat down to notice the changes in their scrapbooks? I did this last night. OMG was there ever a change, I thought my First pages were the best I have ever seen....this was 6 years ago. As I looked at them last night and boy-o-boy did they look bad. There were no borders or card stock to be found just photos cut out with scissors and stuck to the page. So plain and sad looking. I was think of adding a few thing but I don't know that means it would be like starting a whole new book. I just don't want to look back and wished I had did more to make them look better. I know the more you do something the better you get. I guess I'll just have to tell people this was my first one. At least my babys 2 year will look nice. I have learned a lot in the past year to make it look better, like brads and eyelets and different things. Not to mention all the things they have now compared to 6 years ago. Just think what they'll look like when our kid are doing them for their kids. What am I talking about it will be on a CD or DVD by then .(hahahaha)

I feel the same way about my first scrapbooks; however, I don't think it's all the fact that we have gotten so much better. I think the industry has totally evolved. I looked at some of my old scrapbook magazines, and they looked exactly like what you were describing - plain and boring. There wasn't anything in them that excited me anymore - not so when I first bought them.

I guess if we started re-doing our old books, every few years we would be doing something we liked better - lol

I've noticed this myself! I like to think that we have evolved with our creativity...and crafygrandmommie is right the industry has evolved!

I have worked in the biz at 2 local stores for more than 2 years now...one customer really went on and on about redoing her books because of this...not me! I celebrate how far I've come and just like I posted earlier...I have so many more pages to do!

I like all the new things out now to scrap with. I look back at my first album, and wow, I can't believe it. Looked like a bunch of pictures cut out with decorative scissors and pasted to a page. LOL Back then I did not read the scrap magazines or watch the scrap shows on TV. I have really learned alot from seeing the LO's on the different scrap message boards. My daughter has helped me also. much. She has been into scrappin' much longer than I have. Hopefully my pages will not look so primitive now.

I have only been scrapbooking for about 8 months and I have noticed a difference, but I also noticed that my thoughts about scrapbooking have changed as well. I started out thinking that I wanted to do something with the piles of photos I had and I could see how I tried to stick as many photos as I could on a layout. Now I sometimes will select one photo and do a layout or even do a page without a photo at all. It's become more about communicating the memory, but doing it more artistically than I started out if that makes any sense. I wouldn't redo my early layouts because I think it's important to see how much I've grown and see the process of my style evolving. It would be kind of cool to take a layout from the beginning and not get rid of it, but do another one with the same photo as you would do it today and look at them together.
I also think it would be a cool idea to post a first layout and a last layout side by side to see how everyone changed.
