    File extension question

    Hey everyone,

I've been trying to download a few textures and brushes from the net, but have run across a file type I don't know how to deal with. When downloading this texture the file has an .rar extension.

Uhh what is .rar file and what program do I need to use to open it???

Any help would be really appreciated!

I'd like to know, too. I saw some cool textures but couldn't open them so deleted.

It is a compressed file. You can read about it here.

    Or just google '.rar extension'

I think if you google it you will find one. I downloaded a free sample one quite a few months ago and just googled it to find it. I actually think I posted about it sometime ago...

Ok, I found this on an old post from last December and copied and pasted here:

    how to open RAR file
RAR is a file compression program like ZIP. I had to ask my geekie nephew and he explained it. Google WinRAR the first hit will be for WinRAR click on Download. It will ask you if you want to run it, I said yes. It took about 20 seconds to download. It opened, I closed it and went back to the file I had downloaded (the scrapping one) and it looked like a stack of 4 books wrapped in a belt. When I clicked on it it opened a file, which had all the files in it. I clicked on them and they opend up!! Clear as mud???

    Hope this helps,
    Ginny
