I'm about to throw away (recycle) a box of scrap magazines. I've been saving the books to put in a binder my "favorites" but haven't been able to figure out how to sort it. Here's what I read by a Scrapbooks, etc reader and I think I'm gonna do it... sounds simple enough. Does anyone do it differently?
She sorts by:
"Layouts I Love"
"Tools of the Trade"
"Techniques to Try"
"Inspire Me"

I just pull the articles I like and put them in a box. I have not tried to organize yet. But those subjects would just about cover it, I think.

Oh, my magazines a sacred - hate to cut them up - lol

That is exactly what I need to do though - I never look at them anymore since I have the computer to find things.

Oh, and I'm proud of myself - I don't buy them anymore either because I think I can probably find about the same thing on-line. I used to be bad about having to have them all.

I also have a binder that I have been saving articles etc but do not have them categorized yet. Thanks for the tip. Now I just need to finish going through the rest of my magazines.

Oh boy, do I need to do some organizing to my magazines! I have them sitting on a shelf, the whole shelf is full. But I never look at them because I don't know where to find anything. This is a great idea. I may be doing a lot of "sitting" soon so maybe I can get something accomplished.

I did this, too a few months ago and I was surprised how much space I freed up. Plus, now I can just grab my notebook & actually use those articles I saved. I also have LO's, Cards and Altered tabs, too.

Great topic! sam

I agree with crafty grandmommie! My magazines are sacred! I look at mine at least everyday! Not all of them obviously but I take a couple with me when waiting for my daughter to get out of school. I can look at them over and over again and still not get ideas! Maybe I am just too picky! ha ha

Okay, you are all going to laugh at me. http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
I had all good intentions when I started this post. But I got overwhelmed with everything I had to do to organize my space, my house, etc.
I could not deal with the magazine sorting.
I looked through old mags and felt that some were a bit outdated anyway, so I sent them all to recycling heaven!! http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
Please forgive me!!
I will try with the batch I retained (2007 & 2006)... promise!!

You know I was thinking that after I posted that some of the ones that are older are kind of outdated. I just still don't know if I can part with them! http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Maybe I will have the willpower in the next couple of months!

Almost two hundred magazines. Now my questions is do I go through them and save things or just donate them to a worthy group that could enjoy them in their entirety. I rarely go back and look at them. I think I am more likely to see and idea on-line and make from that than go looking through my magazine collection.
