So as I was doing my scraplift challenge I decided to create a template first so then I could add my photos and embellishments. Then I thought maybe it would be good to share the template for another challenge. So here's my layered template. It's the second one I've ever made so please bear with me while I'm learning. Let's see what you can do with it.
I haven't tried it yet either. I numbered each square so it would be easy to follow. The squares with the frames are intended for photos.

download it here:

I also addedthe photo of what I scraplifted this from. It's a double 8 1/2 x 11 layout that Sam created. I changed it to a single 12x12.

If you don't do digital just use this as a sketch.

This is me asking! lol How do I use this for a digital layout??? I've never tried digital before, but with the limited time I have this weekend it would be easier to do than dragging out the paper and adhesive.

Erica, that is a Great LO!!

You need to open it with photoshop or photoshop elements. You can download a free copy of Photoshop Elements for a free trial for 30 days. This is a good way to test out if you like the program and I can walk you through using the templates.

Leen - do you have Photoshop or Photoshop elements?

Here's a video tutorial on how to use layered template. Scroll all the way down to the bottom. While you're there you can pick up a free template and paper pack.

Erica --- that is fabulous!!!!! I can't wait to try this one, too. I'm going to shrink it to a 8.5x11 size and go for it.

That layout looks great... It would be perfect for the Niagara Falls photos that I have... I've been looking for a way just like this, but I could never get it quite right. Thanks for the sketch idea! Though I may have to shrink the photos a bit... I sense a weekend project! =D

Thank you ScrappySam! I only did a 12x12 because that is what my family book is in and I put the zoo page in that book. :)

OK, that figures... I did the free trial months ago but never really played with it to figure out if I wanted it or not.

Here's mine. It took me all day to do because I had no Disney stuff and had to find it all.

Thanks for the tutorial link Cass!! I had to give this a try even though I know it's not that great. lol I took these pictures of my son Jordan a week or so ago using the sepia tone option on the camera.

I'll have to work on this digital scrapbooking stuff, but for now, I need to get back to the homework for a while. lol I'm going to try and do a few more challenges this weekend though.

Nice lo's ladies! Here's my take on it. We went fishing in Sept. 2007 and finally I got around to scrapping them. :D It was a lot harder to do then I thought, but I am happy with it. Thanks for looking!

Those are great! I'm glad you tried the digital, Leen.

Also - I like to use this type of layout (lots of small photos) when I have photos that aren't really great photos.

I like that Tracy. It's cool how the one larger photo is within the two squares.

I like this LO. I have some photos taken in Yellowstone in 2006 from our road trip. They may work with this format. I also like how Tracy used the format for a larger photo. I really like all the LOs. Great work, Ladies!
