I am going to be making Cracked Wheat Cereal for Christmas Eve brunch - the directions say I need to soak it overnight (fine) and then it says to cook it in a double boiler for 25 minutes. Do you think I could use a rice cooker to make this?

Thank you.

I am not sure, I have never double boiled it. I always cooked it on the stovetop. Old school style.

The rice cooker worked - after the rice cooker turns off, just let the cereal sit in the pot until the water is absorbed (about 30 mins) and voi'la - hot cracked wheat cereal.

Now THAT is handy to know!

Cracked Wheat is more brown - I would say a cross between oatmeal and Cream of Wheat. I don't know how to describe it otherwise.

Like carli's Grandma I have never heard of cracked wheat cereal. It's not the same as Farina is it? Or malto Meal? Use to see those as a kid. You must have and electric rice cooker how do you like it. I have one I use in my microwave and I love it. Thanks
