I have seen the crop-o-dile and have thought about buying it. However, when I pick it up, it seems so heavy and large. I have small hands and am wondering for those of you who have small hands, too and who own one of these, how do you like it? Is it too cumbersome? I've had four hand surgeries and so I am sensititve to the balance and weight of hand-held items...even silverware!!! Go figure!! http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

This is very easy to squeeze and you will wonder why you have been using a hammer to set those eyelets and waking everyone up! The one drawback is that you can only set an eyelet about an 1" in from the edge of your paper. However, you can always make a tag.

It would be a good thing that I like tags, then, huh? http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I HAVE THE CROP A DILE!!!! Actually, my wife does, but it is really neat. Well worth the money especially if you get it with the 40%or 50% off coupon at michaels.

I love mine too.. but i understand your concerns. I had that same concern, and it seems to work fine and i don't have problems with it.

Suggestion: Buy one (with your coupon of course), and if you don't like it.. return it.

I just got mine a few months ago and now I love to use eyelets, snaps, etc. Love it!! Got two friends hooked on it in Feb when we had a scrap weekend and they both ordered on-line from J's and got free shipping and 50% off.

Hmmmm, thanks you for your suggestions and opinions. Buying it and taking it back if it does not work for me is soooo logical!! Didn't even think of that. I think that I will give it a try.

I have been using the 'Silent Setter' and I have to stand up and over it to use it. It takes so much force to make it work properly. Using a setting hammer is much easier. But, the Crop-O-dile may do the trick, if it fits my grip.

I love mine!! I really hate that you can only use it so far in on your pages and it is alittle ackward to use with smaller hands to get a good grip on it but the more you use it the easier it is.

I bought a springlet eyelet setter that seems to work prety good so far for reaching further on the pages.

I have one, too. I don't set that many eyelets anymore, but I use it for snaps. I have wrist problems and I find it very easy to use.

I agree with all of the above. I love my Crop-a-dile. It takes absolutely no pressure at all to cut through anything. It cuts through chipboard and even tin with ease. http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
And if you love tags....the combo of using a Sizzix or other die cut machine that allows you to make tags from virtually just about anything (plastic, metal, foam, chipboard, and of course paper), the Crop-A-Dile will punch that hole for you - no problem. http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I have been thinking about this question and tried using mine the other day with the idea of having difficulty with my hands.

Because the handles have a kind of cushiony handle I rested the handle on the table and then just pushed down. It set several eyelets without any problem. I also think that if you can use the silent setter you can use the crop-o-dile.

My girlfriend bought me the silent setter because she hated hearing me hammer eyelets. I found it just way too hard to use. The crop-o-dile goes through almost anything I want to put on my pages or cards and it is quiet.

Just my thoughts.

Wow, Gail!!! That was soooo thoughtful of you! I really appreciate that you tried to approach my concern 'in my shoes'. I had not thought about using the table as a counter pressure.

I have gone out and handled the Crop-O-Dile and it almost does not fit in the palm of my hand when its handles are fully expanded. But,I was not able to try to punch with it. If it is as easy as everyone is saying, if I can get the handles to close without having to fight resistance of the thing being punched, then this may really work for me. And using the table as a 'second hand of sorts' so that I would not have to worry about what I was trying to hold with my free one, then the Crop-O-Dile would be great!

I will go back to my LSS and see if they will let me punch something with their samile. I will report my findings. (However, it may be a little while. My Computer crashed and I have accasional use of my husband's laptop while he has it at home and not work.)

Well, if you started running now, perhaps you could be here by next weekend http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gifand I would be thrilled to give you dinner and a comfy bed to rest up in! Then we could play with the Crop-O-Dile and be in scrapbook heaven. And I would even drive you back home. http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

LOL that's good thinking Gail! I'd run over with mine too if I could. It was funny at the weekend crop I went to when I was packing I tried to get rid of some stuff so I didn't bring my eyelet setter to use with the hammer since I was bringing my crop-a-dile and of course I had to borrow some one elses http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Also, didn't bring my heat gun and had to borrow that and a pan so I could shrink my shrinky dink http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Looks cute though I'll post my LO's later.

the purple one is only sold on that HSN I think or the QVC one of those. It was specially made for that.

The only way to get the green one is in that pack.

I e-mailed them about just making handles that change since you can slip them off.

I got it from QVC toward the end of last year. Bought one for myself and one for my niece. It came packaged like the one posted with all the eyelets. in a purple case.

Just checked and HSN has the purple one in the case with 400 eyelets for $29.95. They also had the pink one without the case and the eyelets for $24.95.

that was pretty much my response, that they only sell the other two in the kit. She said they'd bring up the interchangable handle thing though http://forum.startascrapbook.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
