View Full Version : September "Other" Crop Word Bubbles or Lace Paper

OK I'm doing another crop and there was a challenge to use this site http://wordle.net/

To make a big word bubble (you can resize in your print settings to make it smaller or it will print 8X10)

I also incorperated a challenge from another board. I'll have to track down where they got the idea.

The look of the page I achieved by cutting out a diecut paper's boarder. Reserve sheet for other use. I trimmed up the inside a bit. Then use your favorite adhesive and attach lace paper. (If you're thrifty like me and using double stick tape you'll need Zig Glue or the like) http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u25/ziggyeor/lacepaperandboarderOuida002.jpg

(FYI if it's really sticky on the back then you can use chalk on the back and it will reduce the stickyness)

I trimed around the outer edge of the die cut paper to make it look nice. Waiting for things to dry I tried out the antique linen distress ink on my scraps before deciding to go over the whole thing (hard to tell this in photo)

Then assemble LO. I used Zig Glue to adhere and I even managed to cut out some of the lace paper from behind the words and the photo. (Hey I payed 2.29ish for this paper I'm going to get at least 2 or more uses!!)

I embossed some cardstock with a Fleur-De-Lys from a fiskars embossing template and added cinnamon stickles. The diamond shape is a Fleur-De-Lys Corner stamp that I pried off the wood and stuck on my acrylic block and stamped with antique linen distress ink.

i swear photo bucket says those are resized :p oh well ya get the idea

Use either the Wordle (http://wordle.net/) OR the Lace paper technique (you could also use a transparency for the background)

Um....as usual....LOL...I'm kinda confused. So we can either use that site to make a 'wordle' and use it on a lo any way we want OR do a lo with lace paper? ;)

yes :D lol I figured wordle would be easy if people didn't have lace paper or diecut paper so it's an either/or challenge if the lace paper is a bit much to try :D

I know you can make a 'faux' lace paper with the cricut. I may try to do that. Of course, I can't do the whole sheet 12x12 worth of it though cause I only have the small cricut. So last q, I promise!!!! Can I give this a try and use it on a lo? Like just have a portion of 'faux' lace paper? If not, I may do the wordle! Thanks zig! Either way, it will be new to me. ;)

I used wordle - cool program, only took about an hour to download on our new computer!!! And the threading water punch is about as lacy as I can get on a baseball LO.

yes Aymee you can do the portion of paper.

LOL sorry about that Bonnie I all ready had Java on my comp so I didn't know how long it would take to DL since I didn't have to do anything.

I really like that :D BTW if you wanted to make a word like Baseball bigger type it in several times :D

Ok, here is my LO. I chose to make my own 'faux' lace paper with the cricut. I inked it, then ran it through the cuttlebug with the swiss dots folder for some extra dimension to it. :)

close up of the 'faux' lace paper....
